Cassettes to MP3s?
So I've decided to try to convert some of my cassettes to MP3s. A found a few online guides, doesn't look too difficult. Seems like I have to make .wav files then then MP3s.
Has anybody done this? How's the sound quality?
This is a project that I will undertake after I clean my office (which means, possibly, never). But I'm hoping I can use it to motivate myself to some straightening, dusting, and vacuuming. We shall see.

I've done a few of these. The limiting factor, of course, is the quality of the tape source you're using.
And you've got the flow correct: you record to a WAV, and then convert to MP3 or any other format you might desire.

i haven't converted cassettes, but have converted some of my albums and the principles should be the same. all that was necessary was a wire to connect the stereo headphone out jack in my receiver to the microphone input to my laptop. i got it at radio shack. then just queued up my mp3 recording program (cdex 1.51, freeware) and started playing. it was easy. email if you have any trouble.
